Beginning with August 2, 2019, a regular direct airline between the airports in Salzburg and Nis will be established, the CEO of Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart, Bettina Ganghofer, stated for Tanjug.
Ganghofer, who is visiting Serbia as part of the delegation of 20 honorary consuls from the Salzburg region, says that connecting the two regions is very important for the development of the airports themselves and for the regions they are located in.
– There is a large Serbian community in Salzburg and the surrounding area and there are also those who are interested in Serbia and its development, considering its getting closer to the European Union. This connection is a very interesting project that we are very happy for – Bettina Ganghofer pointed out.
She said that everyone had worked for a long time to implement this direct line between the two regional airports and that the plan was for the flights to be carried out twice a week throughout the year.
– This way, we can meet the needs of passengers in the winter and the summer travel seasons, so they can visit their friends and family or make business contacts. The connection between the two regional airports is very important for the development of both – Bettina Ganghofer said.
The regional airport in Salzburg serves 1.9 million passengers annually and is the second biggest international airport in Austria. The airport takes up 175 ha and is owned by the City of Salzburg (25%) and the Salzburg state (75%).
