NIS started works on bores for gas storage "Banatski Dvor"
"Petroleum Industry of Serbia" (NIS) announced today (August 11, 2009) that it had started realization of the contract with "Srbijagas" for construction of underground gas storage "Banatski dvor" worth about 1 billion RSD.
According to the announcement, NIS started drilling the first out of eight new bores for gas, and it parallely works on reconstruction of one of the two existing bores in the gas field.
The works that are being carried out by the Petrol-servicing block of the executive directorate of "NIS-Naftagas" go without stops, 24 hours a day, in two shifts.
Aforementioned bores can be used for both impressing gas and production. Preparation of the location for the next boring is underway, and the drilling works will start as soon as the started boring is finished.
NIS and public company "Srbijagas" signed the contracts for works on bores for underground gas storage "Banatski dvor" in June, and the deadline for completion of works is the end of year 2009.
Underground gas storage "Banatski dvor" is being built as an extension of the exploitation of the exploited gas deposit whose capacity was 3.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Total surface of the storage is about 54 square kilometers.
Once it is completed, the capacity of the gas storage will be between 800m and 1 billion cubic meters of gas.
The plan is that "Srbijagas" and Russian "Gazprom" found joint venture for completion of construction of the gas storage.
