Construction of Niš-Dimitrovgrad highway to start in November

- Construction of the highway section on "Corridor 10", from Niš to Dimitrovgrad, should commence in November - the CEO of state-owned company "Corridor 10", Nenad Ivanišević, announced on Friday (August 7, 2009) in Pirot.

He said at the meeting with the entrepreneurs from Pirot, who expressed interest in participation in the project, that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development had granted the loan of 150m EUR for construction of that highway section, and that the negotiations with the European Investment Bank were still in progress.

- We hope that these negotiations will be finished in autumn and that the funds for financing construction of Niš-Dimitrovgrad section 83 km long will be provided, so that the works can start in November - said Ivanišević.

According to his words, the World Bank has already provided money for construction of the bypass around Dimitrovgrad, the tender should be announced the next week, while the works should start in November.

- Works on Pirot-Dimitrovgrad section should commence in spring 2010 - said the CEO of company "Corridor 10".

Ivanišević said that the construction of "Corridor 10" should help Serbia both overcome the consequences of the global economic crisis and employment of as many local experts and people as possible.
