Foreign investors in Montenegro own billion euros worth of shares

Foreigners own more than 20% of all securities in Montenegro, amounting to around EUR 1 billion in nominal terms, according to the annual report of the Central Depository Agency of Montenegro, now the Central Clearing and Depository Company, for 2018.

Most investors that own securities in Montenegro are from Italy, Podgorica's Dan reports.

The nominal value of shares owned by Italian investors is estimated at EUR 227.67 million, which is 4.63% of the total value of all the securities registered at the Central Clearing and Depository Company.

Investors from Austria follow, with shares worth EUR 198.58 million. They are followed by investors from Hungary (EUR 137.91 million), Croatia (EUR 114.31 million), Serbia (EUR 108.17 million), Slovenia (EUR 67.39 million), Cyprus (EUR 67.32 million), Turkey (EUR 61.16 million), Japan (EUR 25.85 million) and Switzerland (EUR 23.18 million).


The total nominal value of the securities owned by foreigners is EUR 1.03 billion, which is 20.97% of the total value of all the securities registered at the Central Clearing and Depository Company.
