Surplus in trade with CEFTA countries - 640m USD

- In the first half of this year, Serbia achieved the surplus of 649m USD in trade exchange with CEFTA countries - the Republic Statistics Institute announced.

According to the announcement, the value of Serbia's export was 1.2 billion USD, while import reached the amount of 517.4m USD. The coverage of import by export is 225.4%.

Achieved surplus is the result of export of agricultural products, mainly cereals and related products and various types of drinks.

Serbia mainly imports steel and iron, electric energy and products of non-metal minerals.
The value of Serbia's overall foreign-trade exchange of goods in the period January-June 2009 amounts to 8.2 billion EUR, which is 27.7% less than in the same period in 2008.

Serbia achieved 2.6 billion EUR worth of foreign-trade deficit in the first half of the year, which is 36.2% less than in the same period in 2008.
