The Municipality of Apatin has received a grant of RSD 25 million, which will be used for the reconstruction of the international passenger terminal. The decision is accompanied by a contract, signed at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications by the president of the Municipality of Apatin, Milan Skrbic.

The terminal was destroyed in January 2017, due to the frost on the Danube.

Skrbic announced a quick procedure of opening the tendering for the contractor, as the deadline period for the completion of the project and the spending of the approved funds is 12 months.

– Due to the specific features of the project, only several companies in Serbia are capable of doing this job – Skrbic clarified.

He added that removing the terminal would cost 16 to 19 million dinars.

– Another reason why we chose to have it reconstructed is the presence of the Apatin-based company Dunav Serv – Shipping, which owns several river cruise ships, which should start docking at Apatin next year. Around forty workers from Apatin are employed there – says Skrbic.

He also announced that the new terminal would be safer than the previous one, as it should be designed to withstand ten times more ice pressure than the amount that destroyed the previous one in 2017.

The reconstruction project has been prepared by the consultancy Asiks from Novi Sad.
