Zorana Mihajlovic signs agreement on 12 airlines of public interest from Nis
New air services are expected to be launched on July 15 from Nis to Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Hanover, Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe, Salzburg, Rome, Bologna, Budapest, Gothenborg, Ljubljana and Tivat, the ministry says in a press release.
They remind that the ministry had carried out an international tendering procedure for the selection of the airline to operate these 12 routes, where the domestic airline was picked.
Assistant Minister for Air Transport Zoran Ilic said that the Government of Serbia had reached the decision on launching these air services, in line with European practices and regulations, in order to help less developed regions, that is, regions with GDPs at below 75% of the state average.
– We thereby aim to accelerate the development of south and east Serbia and help them connect with the Serbian diaspora, estimated to number around 1.2 million people, but also to incite a further development of tourism – he said.
