Commencement of construction of tourist center on Besna Kobila mountain - 120m EUR worth of investment
Construction of winter-tourist center on Besna Kobila mountain near spa resort Vranjska Banja, in which 120m EUR will be invested, commenced yesterday (July 27, 2009).
- The center should be finished prior to the end of year 2010, and it will employ 250 people - the CEO of Vranje's public company "Skijališta Besna kobila", Dejan Manić, told Beta agency.
The ski center will occupy over 150,000 ha in municipalities of Vranje, Bosilegrad and Trgovište. Total of 32 ski lifts for more than 60 ski tracks will be installed on Besna Kobila.
Manić said that the master plan and regional spatial plan are nearly finished.
Construction of that center started with the paving works on access road, which stretches from the regional junction Vranje-Bosilegrad to the future ski center. It is 1,579 meters long, and total of 29m RSD is set aside for that purpose.
The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development earlier paid 40m RSD for construction of substation and access road to the ski center.
The substation is already built and it cost 6m RSD.
- Within the scope of six-month public works, for which 11m RSD has been provided, the road 4 km long will be refurbished, mountain lodge with about 80 beds will be renovated and adapted, and ski tracks will be organized - said Manić.
As he explained, 58 unemployed people from the registry of the National Employment Agency will be hired for the public works.
Besna Kobila mountain is 40 km away from Vranje and 30 km away from spa resort Vranjska Banja. The mountain top is 1,922 meters high and it has excellent potentials for winter sports because snow stays on the mountain for up to nine months a year.
