Futog-Begec cycling route built – Documentation for Belgrade-Novi Sad route being prepared

The cycling route between Futog and Begec, near Novi Sad, a part of the European Danube Route, opened for traffic on Saturday, May 4, 2019. In the first phase, which was realized in 2017, a section of 1,727 meters was completed, whereas a section of 4,548 meters was built in 2019.

The new section was visited by Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic and Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic.

Vucevic invited his colleagues from the Municipality of Backa Palanka to join the effort to built a cycling route between Begec and Backa Palanka.

A small part of the Novi Sad-Begec route passes through the urban zone, whereas the majority of it runs along the Danube levee.


Ljajic said that this route would undoubtedly become the backbone of the cycling traffic in Serbia in the years to come.

He added that they were preparing the project-technical documentation for the construction of the Belgrade-Novi Sad cycling route together with the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism.
