Oil shales are Serbia's treasure and the envy of many in the EU, Austrian minister says

In addition to people, oil shales, which are used to produce oil and gas, are Serbia's treasure and very probably the envy of many EU states, the Austrian minister of transport and innovation, Norbert Hofer, stated in Belgrade today.

– Oil shales are very important for mobility. Consider them a treasure to be kept – the Austrian official stated.

According to earlier estimates, Serbia could earn several dozen billion dollars from the exploitation of oil shales near Aleksinac.

Norbert Hofer and the Serbian minister for innovation and technological development, Nenad Popovic, signed the Memorandum of Understanding in Belgrade today, with the aim of inciting cooperation between Serbian and Austrian companies in the fields of innovation and digitization.
