Regional roaming agreement to be signed on April 4 – Prices to be harmonized with local calls by July 2021
The state secretary at the Ministry of Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, explains for Novosti that the agreements within the Western Balkans Digital Agenda obligates the signees not to exceed the upper limit for retail and wholesale prices of roaming services.
Operators in the region should reduce the prices of roaming in order to enable consumers to use electronic communications services outside the reach of their network, without paying steep fees.
– In the first year of the transitory period, the agreement will mean that people in Serbia will pay 27% lower roaming prices than the current ones with Montenegro, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina – she said.
When it comes to roaming calls in Albania, the reduction amounts to as much as 85%. The transitory period begins on July 1 and ends on June 30, 2021.
For citizens of Serbia, the price of one minute will not exceed RSD 22.4 without the VAT, or seven dinars for a text message and RSD 21.2 for data transfer per megabyte. According to Tatjana Matic, Belgrade has put in a lot of effort to have the agreement realized.
– If the political circumstances allow for it, the document will be signed next week – she said.
