The Prime Minister of Serbia, Mirko Cvetković, opened the highway section 20.5 km long, between Levosoj and Macedonian border, for traffic today (July 7, 2009). About 3 billion RSD, that is, about 13m EUR, have been invested in this section of "Corridor 10".

Cvetković said that the highway section had been opened for traffic on the day when the Government of Serbia had been formed in 2008.

- We have fulfilled the promise we made when the Government of Serbia was formed. This highway section was finished on time. Construction of "Corridor 10" is the priority of this Government that has provided funds for construction of all remaining sections of the corridor - said he.

He also explained that 21.5 billion RSD had been provided from international and local sources for payment of debts to Serbian road maintenance workers, and he added that they would receive that money very soon.

- One of the successes of the Government of Serbia is revoking of the visa regime and transfer to the white schengen list. It is also significant that we have improved cooperation with Russia and USA and other most important countries of the world. We have significantly improved the image of the Government with successful results in the last year - said he.

Total of 10,000 cubic meters of concrete, 90 tons of asphalt and over 1m cubic meters of rock, earth and other materials were built in the lane that was opened for traffic today. One lane already existed from before.

The ceremony was resumed at the border crossing Preševo, which was partially reconstructed.

Over the last year, total of seven bridges and 55 other smaller facilities have been built on the route of "Corridor 10", as well as six kilometers of sewerage.

It was announced at the ceremony that the construction of Levosoj-Neradovac highway section 16.5 km long would commence in September 2009, and that the construction of that section of "Corridor 10" would be financed by the Government of Greece.
