The Grand Staircase and the bridge at the Clock Tower at Kalemegdan will start being repaired in March, as announced by the PE Belgrade Fortress.

The works will be supervised by conservationists and archaeologists. Since the last reconstruction in 2006, the Grand Staircase has dilapidated. Nearly every step is in catastrophic condition, and the stone slabs are missing altogether in certain spots.

The contracted value of the first phase of the repair of the Grand Staircase is RSD 14,450,521.

The wooden bridge has not had any major works done on it since 1987. This spring, the oak floor structure and the fence will be fully replaced. The works will take around 120 days and are worth RSD 4,594,540.
