Serbia might benefit from the car industry revolution, that is, the switch to electric cars, reports the Zagreb-based website Poslovni.

As reported, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said a few days ago at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the Chinese could build an electric vehicle plant in western Serbia, in the area between Prijepolje and Krupanj, which features the jadarite ore, containing large amounts of lithium, which is needed for the production of electric car batteries.

The website writes, citing Belgrade-based media, that, when the exploitation of jadarite starts in Loznica, which is expected to take place in a few years, the lithium produced is expected to meet 10% of the global demands.

The Jadar project is being developed by Rio Tinto, and according to Vucic, who met with the company's leaders in Davos, this large mining concern is already having talks with the Chinese about the cooperation.
