IKEA to start building Belgrade Trade Center in spring 2019
The completion of the trade center, where over 400 people are to be employed, is expected in the spring of 2020.
– We've come to Serbia to stay for a long time, and the new investment cycle, pertaining to the Belgrade Trade Center, confirms this – Lalic said at the Government of Serbia during the signing of the memorandum on cooperation on the project of the construction of IKEA's trade center.
Lalic signed the memorandum with Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic.
According to Lalic, the investment in the new center further upgrades the commercial zone in the formerly swampy area of Belgrade.
With this investment, IKEA's investments in Serbia will amount to around EUR 120 million.
When asked which producers will have outlets in the center, Lalic said that it was too early to talk about brands, but that many trademarks not present in the Serbian market at the moment would appear there for the first time.
– We expect the further growth of the Serbian market and that is why we keep investing – Lalic said and added that, since IKEA's arrival to Serbia in August 2017, the furniture market had increased by 14%.
