Lonely Planet praises Novi Sad – City you must visit in 2019
As Lonely Planet says, Novi Sad isn't as well known as the capital of Belgrade, but is much more hip. Nicknamed the "Athens of Serbia," it's home to the country's annual EXIT Festival, which is held at the Petrovaradin Fortress, a site worth visiting anyway.
Lonely Planet notes that the festival contributes to a vibrant music and arts scene and a youth-oriented vibe. The travel site points out that Serbia's second largest city will be 2019's European Youth Capital.
Novi Sad is followed on the list by Miami, Kathmandu, Mexico City, Dakar, Seattle, Zadar and Meknes.
