From 2020, Serbia will implement the software for the submission of farming subsidy requests, and applicants will no longer need to travel to Belgrade, Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic announced.

He said for the agrofin.rs portal that subsidies would be paid under the current model in 2019 as well, but that requests would be filed locally from 2020.

– The software is being developed. Farmers will be able to view their file, how far the procedure has progressed and when they can expect the subsidies to be paid at any moment – Nedimovic said.

The minister says that this requires more cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and local self-governments.

He added that the ministry's budget for 2019 is development- and investment-oriented and primarily focused on livestock farming and fruit and vegetable farming, “as these activities bring a bigger added value”.
