Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic has confirmed that the City of Belgrade has secured the purchase of 22 new vehicles for the PUE Gradska Cistoca, the city's sanitation service, Beoinfo reports.

While visiting the company, he pointed out that the new vehicles would considerably accelerate the operations and specified that the investment was worth RSD 370 million.

According to Vesic, these are two new cisterns, eight regular garbage trucks, as well as large garbage trucks which stand for six people and can empty a container in 45 seconds.

– For the sake of comparison, it takes around 15 minutes to empty an underground container. The rolling stock of Gradska Cistoca currently features 650 vehicles of various purposes, and the company employs around 2,850 people. The City of Belgrade has secured a budget of over EUR 3 million for Gradska Cistoca, whereas 25 new street washing cisterns and 30 garbage trucks will be bought through the Secretariat for Environmental Protection – Vesic said.

According to him, waste containers, as well as trucks, will get GPS next year.
