Contract for modernization of Steam Power Plant "Nikola Tesla" – Government of Switzerland donated 10.56m CHF
The Government of Serbia signed the contract today (May 5, 2009) with the Government of Switzerland on the donation of 10.56m CHF for modernization of the surveillance system in Steam Power Plant "Nikola Tesla B" (TENT).
Modernization of the surveillance and control system in Steam Power Plant "Nikola Tesla B" will increase the efficiency of the units, which will reduce annual coal consumption by 226,000 tons, as well as the emission of harmful gases.
At the press conference occasioned by the signing of the contract in Steam Power Plant "Nikola Tesla B", the authorized people said that they expected the modernization of the system in Block B1 to be finshed prior to year 2013, while the works in Block 2 should be finished prior to year 2014.
The contract was signed by the Minister of Energy of Serbia, Petar Škundrić, and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia, Ervin Helmut Hofer. Total value of the project is 28.6m CHF, 18.04m CHF of which will be provided by the Electric Power Company of Serbia.
The Ambassador of Switzerland, Ervin Helmut Hofer, said that Switzerland had invested over 10m EUR in the energy projects since year 2000.
- The cooperation between Serbia and Switzerland in energy sector has always been good and it has become the model for cooperation with other countries in the region – said he.
