Agreements for "Južni tok" to be signed on April 24 and 25

- At the energy summit in Sofia, on April 24 and 25, the agreements for construction of main-route gas pipeline "Južni tok" will be signed in the presence of the presidents of the countries and governments of the countries that are interested in construction of that gas pipeline – said Petar Škundrić, the Minister of Energy and Mining.

- Individual agreements between “Gazprom” and national companies will be signed at the summit in Sofia, and it is expected that about hundred delegations interested in construction of the gas pipeline will be present on that occasion - Škundrić announced in the statement he gave to the press in hotel "Hyatt".

- There will also be the Prime Minister of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, as well as majority of presidents and prime ministers of the countries that are interested in construction of "Južni tok" on their territories – said Škundrić and pointed out that the delegation of Serbia would also attend the summit in Sofia, and that he would be the member of that delegation as the Minister of Energy.

- Individual agreements between the Russian strategic partner and national companies will be signed in Sofia, while the final agreement will be signed following the completion of the feasibility study in each of the countries – Škundrić explained.

Škundrić said that Serbia should finish the feasibility study for the gas pipeline prior to September 2009, while whole project "Južni tok" should be completed by the end of June 2010.

- According to all estimates, the route through Serbia is considered as the most realistic, the most optimal and the most economic - Škundrić pointed out and reminded that the mines clearance works had already begun on certain part of the future route of "Južni tok" in our country, on the section between Niš and Dimitrovgrad.
