The Italian salad factory
La Linea Verde opened in the village of Dobrinci near Ruma with 70 employees. In the full capacity, over the three-year realization of the project, it will have 50 workers.
The factory takes up 6,000 square meters and will produce and package main course salads, and as stated at the opening, small farms will be able to be subcontractors of this Italian investor, which is export-oriented.
Minister of Agriculture of Serbia Branislav Nedimovic told the press that the state had approved 24 projects in the processing sector and the genetic improvement of the livestock population.
He explained that La Linea Verde was one such project.
– This is a village factory, and local farmers will now be able to sell it their vegetables – Nedimovic said.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture handed La Linea Verde the agreement on the rent of state-owned agricultural land on the right-of-first-refusal basis, consisting of close to 100 hectares of arable land suitable for plastic greenhouses in the neighboring Kraljevci.
The provincial secretary for agriculture, water management and forestry, Vuk Radojevic, said that the investment was worth EUR 10 million in the first phase.
– The agriculture of Vojvodina and Serbia needs such investors and such investments in the processing capacities, as this creates the conditions for the making of final products and their export with added value – he said.
He added that vegetable production was developed in the territory of the Municipality of Ruma, where there are 1,500 hectares under vegetables.
