Baby Food Factory opens in Dobanovci – Domestic greenfield investment of EUR 34 million
Over 100 experts of various profiles have already been employed in the first phase, and the plan is for there to be more than 300 workers by the end of 2020.
As the company's CEO, Zeljko Ciganovic, said, this is one of the biggest investments this year in Serbia, and by local investors too.
Ciganovic said that the factory was equipped with the latest technology for the production of baby food in six different categories. He said that, in the first phase, products would be marketed in southeast Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, and in the next phase, the plan was to export the products to all the countries of southeast Europe, including Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia.
The company's products will become available in the Serbian market as soon as November 1, Ciganovic said, in stores of all sizes and in pharmacies. The daily capacity is 50 tons of the Nutrino brand.
The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Marko Cadez, said that the investment was proof that Serbia had business people capable of recognizing the needs of the market and running serious and responsible projects, whereby they contribute to the growth and the development of Serbian economy. As he said, this is also very important from the aspect of the creation of new jobs, but is also an opportunity for suppliers. Cadez called it an example of good strategic partnership.
One of the owners of Baby Food Factory, Milica Socanac, said that the aim of the younger generations of the three families that initiated the opening of the factory was to continue implementing the vision of their parents.
– We want to produce, expand our operations and employ even more people – Socanac said and pointed out that the said founders of the factory had educated themselves and professionally developed abroad, but still wanted their future to be in Serbia.
Baby Food Factory will offer a full range of baby food products.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the guests took a tour of the production facility, which takes up 33,500 square meters, of which 13,600 m2 are located indoors, roughly equaling the size of two and a half soccer stadiums.
