Calzedonia, Euroin and Witzenmann to arrive to industrial zone Kula
The president of the municipality, Velibor Milojicic, announced that the facility of the Italian company Calzedonia, one of the world's biggest producers of underwear, would start working in November. The company had bought a 2-ha plot of land in the industrial zone in Kula for slightly over EUR 100,000 and raised its third facility in Serbia there. Calzedonia already has the Fiorano plant in Sombor and the Gordon plant in Subotica. The National Employment Service in Kula has more than 4,000 unemployed in its register, three hundred of which will find a job at the Calzedonia facility, which, as expected, will be opened by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on November 1.
The Italian footwear plant Euroin operates in Kula and Feketic (Municipality of Mali Idjos) and employs a total of around 300 workers in both facilities. Euroin produces upper footwear components, which are then sent for finalization to Italy.
This is very expensive footwear, which is imported to Serbia. Euroin, headquartered in Ugrinovci near Belgrade, will move its facilities from the premises it rents in Kula to a new factory in the industrial zone in this town, and it will also expand its production and, according to Milojicic, employ 200 workers.
Last week, representatives of the German company Witzenmann, which produces flexible components for the auto-industry, sent a letter of intent to Kula. The company, which is present in 19 countries, intends to buy six hectares of land in the industrial zone in Kula for the construction of the factory, which should employ its first workers in early 2019.
– We are ready to employ 300 people, and maybe even more. Our workers in other countries are very satisfied with the conditions and we hope that people in Kula will also be motivated – said the director of Witzenmann, Michael Scheib.
The president of the municipality of Kula said that there was also interest in the industrial zone in Ruski Krstur.
– A private company from Novi Sad is looking to buy 2.2 hectares of land and raise a mini cooling plant, where it would employ around 20 workers – Milojicic announced.
