Serbia obtained 6.1m USD for youth employment and migration control from Spanish fund

Spanish fund for achievement of millennium goals has granted 6.1m USD to Serbia today (April 6, 2009) for youth employment and migration control programme.

The document for realization of that programme has been signed in Belgrade by the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, the Ambassador of Spain to Serbia, Injigo da Palasio Espagna, and the Acting Permanent Coordinator of United Nations in Serbia, Lenart Kocalainen.

Dinkić said at the press conference that Serbia would use the aid for youth employment promotion in the regions of South Bačka, Belgrade and Pčinj within the following three years.

According to his words, the programme should also help the citizens, especially Roma people who return to Serbia on the basis of the Law on Readmission.

The Ambassador of Spain pointed out that the Government of Spain had set aside 700m USD for realization of the Fund’s programme, 54m USD of which would be granted to the Balkan countries.

- Serbia, as a country that is very important to Spain, will be among the most significant users of funds from Spanish fund, and it will get total of 12m USD for three projects – said De Palasio Espagna.

As it was explained at the conference, the Government of Serbia will implement the youth promotion and migration control support programme in association with the specialized agencies of the United Nations.
