Third summit of ministers of transport of China and 16 Central and East Europe countries begins in Belgrade

The third summit of the ministers of transport of People's Republic of China and 16 countries of Central and East Europe will be held on October 15-17 in Belgrade.

During that same time, Belgrade will also host the Third forum of mayors of the capitals of the states participating in the cooperation mechanism between PR of China and 16 countries of Central and East Europe.

According to the statement published on the Government of Serbia website both summits will be officially opened on Tuesday, October 16 at 9 a.m.

Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure , Zorana Mihajlovic said that Serbia was recognized as one of the most active participants of 16+1 cooperation mechanism and as a country which had the leading role when it comes to the cooperation with China on infrastructural projects.

Mihajlovic pointed out that in this meeting not only would there be talks about projects concerning Serbia but also about the entire cooperation process between China and 16 countries of Central and East Europe and its further development, and that it was an honour for Belgrade to host such an event. Mihajlovic is also heading the Serbian part of the Mixed Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation between China and Serbia.

Chinese delegation on the summit is led by the Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng who had a meeting with Mihaljovic during the visit of Serbian delegation to Beijing where they talked about the most important infrastructure projects between Serbia and China including the modernization and reconstruction of Belgrade-Budapest railway and the construction of highway on Corridor 11.
