Following a meeting with Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication of Serbia Rasim Ljajic, Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia Amr Aljowaily invited Serbia to take part in the conference and the exhibit of new technologies in Cairo, to be held from November 25 through 28.

As said in the press release by the Egyptian Embassy, Aljowaily and Ljajic discussed the strengthening of cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism and telecommunication at their meeting on October 5.

The Egyptian ambassador added that they had also discussed the importance of cooperation in civil aviation, including the potential relaunch of direct air services between the two capitals, both of which are hubs in their respective regions.

The ambassador informed Ljajic of the results of the Economic Caravan of Egypt, held in four towns in Serbia, and Ljajic said that he hoped that a trade regime between the two countries would develop in a way that secures positive and quick results in a range of priority sectors.

He emphasized that this was the beginning of additional steps toward the facilitation of trade between the two countries on a wider scale at a later stage.

The Egyptian ambassador also pointed out the importance of the facilitation of procedures for the issuing of visas to citizens of Egypt, which, as he said, would help the mobility of businessmen and tourists looking to expand their bilateral economic and trade relations.

The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications previously announced that Aljowaily had said that Egypt was ready to include Serbia on the list of countries from which the export of wheat is allowed.

As said in the ministry's press release, Ljajic and Aljowaily also discussed the possibility of the producers of wheat from Serbia being authorized by the Egyptian government to export to the state's market.

At the meeting with Minister Ljajic, the ambassador emphasized the full readiness of the competent institutions to include Serbia on that list and added that the procedure was in its final stages.

Ljajic and Aljowaily agreed that there was room for the trade to develop in other fields as well, such as energy, construction, auto- and pharmaceutical industries.

When it comes to tourism, they agreed that bilateral cooperation in that sector was on the rise, but also that there need to be additional efforts in promoting the tourism potentials of Serbia in Egypt and vice versa, the ministry adds.
