Lidl Serbia will start operating on October 11 with the opening of 16 stores in 12 towns throughout Serbia. Citizens of Belgrade, Bor, Zrenjanin, Kragujevac, Leskovac, Nis, Novi Sad, Smederevo, Sombor, Subotica, Uzice and Sabac will be the first ones to have the unique shopping experience at the first modern discount stores in Serbia, Lidl announces.

The opening of the finished stores in other towns will start in November and continue in the upcoming months, considering that Lidl Serbia announces the further expansion of its retail network.

– We are ready for the opening and excited that we will be able to serve our customers next week. We believe that we will gain their trust through carefully chosen products featuring the best ratio of price and quality and the offer of unique Lidl brands, which have not been available in Serbia so far. We welcome them and invite them to visit their local Lidl and see why shopping at Lidl is simpler, better and more affordable – said Martina Petrovic, Head of Corporate Communications at Lidl Serbia.

Lidl has prepared a carefully selected offer of 1,500 products for consumers in Serbia, as well as unique Lidl brands, but also the products of local suppliers. The retail chain is characterized by time-limited discount offers of non-food products, which change every week, and the stores will feature products such as small household appliances, textile, toys, tools, home decorations products, gardening equipment...

As the company says, Lidl stores in Serbia and standardized and built using the latest concept, which entails a more modern design, a larger retail space, more spacious parking lots, more natural light, higher energy efficiency and an attractive look in line with Lidl's goals – to provide the customers with a better shopping experience, to build a pleasant and safe place for employees and be environmentally responsible.

Lidl Serbia has actively included the domestic construction industry by hiring 200 subcontractors, engineering design, supervision and construction companies, in the process of the building of the stores.

Over 1,000 sales clerks will meet the first customers at Lidl stores. Together with their colleagues, they went through several months of training as part of the thorough preparations for the opening, so that they would be able to meet the customers' needs. Over 1,500 employees will work at Lidl at the time of the opening.

With the long expected announcement of the opening date, it was also revealed that the two people on enigmatic billboards that citizens of Serbia could see for the past two weeks are in fact Lidl's shopping experts. The billboards were supposed to symbolize Lidl's renowned feature of the best ratio of price and quality, which it will offer in Serbia as well.
