Agreement on expansion of trade and energy cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia – third meeting of Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation between two countries

The participants in the third meeting of the Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation between Slovakia and Serbia agreed today (March 27, 2009) to improve and develop cooperation in trade, entrepreneurship, energy and environment protection sectors.

After the protocol was signed at the end of the meeting of the Commission, the State Secretary for International Economic Relations of Serbia, Vesna Arsić, said that there was still space for the growth of trade between Serbia and Slovakia, which had been doubled in 2008, reaching the value of about 600m USD.

- Serbia has the opportunity to learn from Slovakia’s experience related to the use of IPA funds for innovations, small business and agricultural sector – said she.

The State Secretary within the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia, Peter Žiga, announced that the next meeting of the Mixed Commission would be held in 2010 in Bratislava, and that both Slovakian and Serbian entrepreneurs would attend it.

The first meeting of the Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia was held in March 2006 in Belgrade.
