Ownership transformation at Orao Bijeljina announced – Serbia to get a 50% stake

The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the defense minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, have visited the Bijeljina-based company Orao and announced an ownership transformation within the company, whereby a 50% stake would belong to a state company chosen by the Government of Serbia.

This would secure the business and help make a new technological step in the company which already has organized production discipline, Dodik said.

He thanked Vulin for the support Serbia provides, not just to Orao, but also to Kosmos and Specijalni Motori in Pale, emphasizing that it would otherwise be hard to maintain the capacities in Republika Srpska.

Dodik said that he believed that better days were coming for Orao and pointed out that Serbia showed progress in modernizing the military, with Republika Srpska seeing an opportunity for itself and looking to be a part of that success.

According to him, Serbia is the most important country for regional stability.

Vulin said that Orao was one of the companies strategically important to the development of aviation in Serbia.

– That is why we’ve invested over EUR 3 million in arrangements with Orao this year. They can count on the cooperation being kept at that level over the next five years – Vulin said, as reported by RTRS.

He said that Orao was very important for the Serbian Defense Ministry. Vulin also pointed out that Orao, Kosmos and Specijalni Motori could count on full support from the Serbian Defense Ministry.
