"Cleaner production – million savings" – reorganization and introduction of innovations for environment protection in 11 companies
Serbian Cleaner Production Center (CČPS) signed the contract
with 11 local companies on March 20th in order to make it possible
for them to carry our reorganization and introduce innovations that will enable
preservation of environment, as well as millions worth of savings.
- CČPS was put in operation at the end of year 2007, and it was created at the
initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
and authorized ministries – it was said on the occasion of the contract signing
in the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (PKS).
Cleaner production in companies means more rational use of raw materials, water
and energy, replacement of dangerous matters with environment-friendly ones,
and reduction of toxicity and emission of harmful gases and waste into the
nature.
Last year, thanks to CČPS, eight local companies successfully introduced the
system for cleaner production in their units. Projected investments in the introduction
of that system in company "Metalac" from Gornji Milanovac amount to 256,000
EUR, while annual savings amount to 135,000 EUR.
It was said at the meeting in PKS that the investments in cleaner production
paid off already after one year, which was proved by the case of Odžaci-based
"Hipol" that produced polyprophylene.
After introduction of cleaner production system, expected savings in
aforementioned eight companies amount to about 1m EUR.
The savings are enabled through recycling of oil and other waste, reduction of
consumption of chemicals and water from the water supply system, energy
efficiency, etc.
CČPS also granted UNIDO certificates to the advisers for cleaner production. At the moment, there are 27 such advisers in Serbia, and additional 19 will finish the training soon. The advisers get the task to help introduction of the cleaner production system in certain company, but the companies must also think by themselves about possible models of saving in certain sectors.
The companies that signed the contract with CČPS are: "Chemical Agrosava" from Šimanovci, Požarevac-based "Bambi", "Carnex" from Vrbas, Belgrade-based "Des", "Maxima" from Lučani, "Galeb Group" from Šabac, "Tarkett" from Bačka Palanka, "Zvezda Helios" from Gornji Milanovac, Belgrade-based "Imlek", "Knjaz Miloš" from Aranđelovac and Smederevo-based "Želvoz".
