The Government of Serbia has finally reached a decision and announced today that it would increase the minimum wage for 8.6% which is RSD 155 per working hour. Trade Unions, employers and government representatives agreed that the minimum wage should be adjusted to the costs of the minimum consumer basket during the next three years.
According to the Finance Minister Sinisa Mali the minimum wage will be RSD 27.022 in 2019.

Trade union representatives didn't concur with the decision. The government and employers proposed 8.6 % raise while the unions asked for 10% minimum wage increase.

President of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia, Ljubisav Orbovic said that both unions and employers agreed that the minimum wage should be adjusted to cover the minimum consumer basket during the next three years.

Trade unions representatives stated they couldn't accept the decision to increase the minimum wage by 8.6% because the trade unions previously agreed on 10% raise in their council meetings and couldn't change it without the councils discussing the new proposal.

New minimum wage was discussed between the members of Social-Economic Council (SEC),who are government representatives, trade unions and Serbian Association of Employers.

Minimum wage is currently at RSD 143 per working hour and the net salary is at RSD 24,000 per month.

The previous minimum wage adjustments happened in January 2018 when the minimum wage was increased from RSD 130 to RSD 143 per hour.

Today`s session of Social-Economic Council was attended by the Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, Zoran Djordjevic Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, the president of the Serbian Association of Employers, Milos Nenezic, president of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia , Ljubisav Orbovic and Zoran Stojiljkovic, president of the Nezavisnost Trade Union Confederation.
