Holiday for all senses – Fourth One World Culinary Chefs Competition and Balkan Culinary Cup between May 21 and 23, 2009, in Belgrade

The Culinary Association of Serbia (CAS), the Association of Culinary Chefs of Serbia (ACCS) and company Bel Expo will be the hosts and the organizers of the IV One World Culinary Chefs Competition (OWCCC) and the Balkan Culinary Cup (BCC) between May 21 and 23, 2009, in Belgrade.

Total of seven culinary chefs will take part in the One Culinary World Chefs Competition in Belgrade. The contestants are selected by WACS through its continental directors. Each of the seven teams, the representatives of continents, will have three members: cook, judge and expert journalist. The culinary chefs will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills to the professional public made of cooks, hotel managers and restaurant managers from Serbia and the Balkan countries.

In parallel with One Culinary World Chefs Competition, the Balkan Culinary Cup will take place. The Balkan Culinary Cup is the first championship of professional cooks and confectioners, and it is the only event of the kind in the Balkan region at the moment. The participants in the Balkan Culinary Cup are: Bulgaria, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Greece, Cyprus, Albania, Romania, Turkey and Serbia. The aim of this championship is to gather as many cooks from the regional countries and Europe as possible for the sake of exchange of experiences and implementation of new trends and food products in preparation and serving of food and drinks.

During these three days, between May 21 and 23, the organizers are going to receive 150 colleagues from abroad, among whom will be the President of the World Association of Culinary Chefs (WACC), Mr. Gissur Gudmundsson, and other famous and eminent colleagues from the world of gastronomy.

The contests will be organized in EXPO XXI International Expocenter Belgrade, of which spatial and technical characteristics meet the criteria of the World Association of Culinary Chefs (WACC).

The general patron of the One World Culinary Chefs Competition and the Balkan Culinary Cup is the People’s Office of the President of the Republic. The contests are also backed by the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia – the Secretariat of Tourism, the Assembly of City of Belgrade, the Chamber of Commerce of Belgrade and the Tourism Organization of Belgrade. All of them have recognized the primary goals of this manifestation, which is the promotion of domestic products among the foreign visitors, as well as affirmation of Belgrade and Serbia through gastronomy.

The official hotel of the championship is Hotel Holiday INN Belgrade, and the sponsor is Metro Cash&Carry Belgrade.

Our country has over 10,000 cooks, 2,700 catering facilities, 253 categorized hotels and 148 categorized restaurants, and it has never been the host of such prestigious championship.
