Opportunity for small entrepreneurs to exchange ideas – Zrbiznet fair to take place on September 20-22 in Zrenjanin

There are over 360,000 small and medium companies active in Serbia, employing close to a million workers. According to the Ministry of Economy, in the past three years, the number of small enterprises has grown by 17,000, the number of new jobs created amounts to 30,000, and the companies' profit has increased by as much as 70%.

Business people from central Banat, who are brought together increasingly often through organizations and at regional economic fairs, see their opportunity in the establishment of small and medium enterprises as well.

One such business fair will be held in September in Zrenjanin. The regional fair Zrbiznet aims to attract and connect as many business people from Serbia and the region as possible.

– We want to change the practice of having business people from Serbia meet at fairs held abroad. By organizing fairs locally, we will try to improve the economic cooperation and offer a common product to the market – explains the president of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Zrenjanin, Predrag Stankov.

Zrbiznet has developed from the Beer Days event, held in Zrenjanin for years now. It will be held in the new exhibit space of the Medison hall.

– The Beer Days were traditionally accompanied by the INOCOOP fair, and the idea was to unload this big tourist event. Last year, we started realizing the idea tentatively, but thanks to the enthusiasm of the people from the Association of Employers of Zrenjanin, we saw that the project could succeed – explains Mayor Cedomir Janjic.

The Association of Employers of Zrenjanin has concrete data and claims that there are numerous advantages and reasons why people should attend the fair.

– The fact is that the economy in this part of Vojvodina is on the rise, as well as that there's not enough workforce. That's why, among other things, we are focusing on small and medium enterprises, educational and financial institutions, as well as trades and non-production activities. Our idea is to provide the opportunity to the participants to present their activities and meet with representatives of institutions which provide support to business and to get educated in various fields at thematic lectures. This year, the education program focuses on IT solutions meant for smaller companies, as well as increasing the productivity of the production – Goran Nesic, the president of the Association of Employers of Zrenjanin, explains for Biznis.

The executive director of the Association of Employers of Zrenjanin, Izabela Kis, says that Zrenjanin is looking to use the advantage of its geographic position and the fact that it is located close to Belgrade and Novi Sad, as well as Romania, Hungary and Croatia.

– At the three-day business fair, there will be content not just for business people, but for other target groups as well. RSD 12,000 should be set aside for renting 9 m2 of exhibit space, participation in two informal events, as well as lectures and training courses. Trade shops and small companies can count on free outdoor stands in Karadjordjev Park. This is our way of supporting small business – Izabela Kis says.

The second Zrbiznet is being held from September 20 through 22 under the slogan “Get Moving!”. The organizers are the Serbian Association of Employers, the Association of Employers of Zrenjanin and the Town of Zrenjanin, and this year, the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Zrenjanin and the General Association of Entrepreneurs are also taking part in the organization of the event.
