"Greentech" recycled 60m plastic bottled in 2008 – PET transformed into polyester fiber
Recycling factory "Greentech" in Bačka Palanka has
announced that it recycled about 3,000 tons of plastic (PET) bottles in 2008,
which is 30% more than in 2007.
As the people from the company explained, "Greentech" recycled about
60m bottles or 150,000 cubic meters of waste packaging plastic, which would be otherwise
sent to scrap yards.
Recycling process in the factory in Mladenovo, near Bačka Palanka, transforms
waste plastic packaging into washed ground PET flakes, which are then exported
to Romania as a new raw material, into one of the factories within "Greentech"
group, where final processing is done and polyester fiber produced.
There are companies in Serbia that use polyester fiber obtained
from recycled PET bottles as raw material for clothing, bed linens, furniture
or insulations in civil engineering.
The plastic bottles used in that way are becoming brand new products.
