Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajic visited the newly built pool complex at the Selters spa in Mladenovac yesterday and said that the project was worth RSD 100 million.

Ljajic said that it was a joint project of the Ministry of Trade and the Institute for Rehabilitation Selters in Mladenovac, and that the ministry had set aside RSD 45 million.

According to him, the investment can pay off in the next four years if the pool works 100 days a year on average.

– This year, the weather conditions have not been favorable, not just here, but in the entire country, but we believe that such investments in tourism and infrastructure can enhance our capabilities and make these results, which are getting better each year, considerably more successful – Ljajic said and added that he hoped that the Selters spa would also contribute to the growth of the total tourism revenues.

The minister said that, in the first six months of the current year, a growth of as much as 20% had been recorded in Serbian spas and added that it was a great result, considering the weather conditions.

Ljajic said that people stayed the longest at the Selters spa, more than 20 days, but that, unfortunately, there were very few foreign guests.

– With this pool and our further projects in Mladenovac, I believe we can attract a larger number of foreign guests, make the offer more varied and substantial and turn this into an important resource, considering that the spa is only 45 km away from Belgrade – Ljajic added.

The director of the Institute for Rehabilitation Selters, Snezana Kostic, says that the outdoor pool complex, which also features a children's pool, has started working recently and that the construction took slightly over two years.

– We are very proud of this investment, which we've brought to a close successfully. This summer, the weather conditions have not really been in our favor, but at least these past few days have seen true summer heat and we had over 500 guests yesterdays – Kostic added.
