Telekom to stop broadcast of Srpska Naucna Televizija
He said that the SNTV program had been within the Telekom system for five years and that, up till then, the contract had been automatically extended.
– Now we’ve received a memo saying that they don’t want to extend the contract and that our TV channel will no longer be broadcast – Petrovic stated and added that, under the contract, they had the right to terminate the cooperation without explanation.
Telekom Srbija: SNTV fails to meet expectations
– SNTV has not justified the expectations and needs of Telekom Srbija in the technical sense and in terms of the program – Telekom says in response to UNS’ question about the discontinuation of the program.
– Our position is that the program concept has been degraded, that the goals have not been met either in the technical sense or in the program sense, or in general. For that reason, Telekom Srbija has no further interest in distributing the said channel, and we will continue supporting the scientific concept through other business model activities – the statement says and adds that “the ratings of SNTV were very low during the cooperation, with the channel being below the 200th spot in the past few months”.
United Media, whose majority owner is KKR, received the approval for the purchase of SNTV from the Commission for Protection of Competition last month.
Through United Media, KKR also owns cable operator SBB and TV N1 in Serbia.
