Iranian tourists interested in medical properties of Melenci mud – Banja Rusanda planning procurement of equipment, pool reconstruction, increase of accommodation capacities

Representatives of the Iranian Trade Center for the Balkans and the Special Rehabilitation Hospital Rusanda will prepare and sign a letter of intent in the next ten days, which will specify the details of cooperation between that state and the Melenci institution, it was agreed at a meeting held in Banja Rusanda.

The president of the Iranian Trade Center for the Balkans, Said Hosseini, as well as other Iranian representatives, visited Rusanda on Tuesday, July 17, and met with the director, Zorica Culibrk, and her associates, and the guests were welcomed on behalf of the local self-government by Deputy Mayor of Zrenjanin Sasa Santovac and Assistant Mayor Simo Salapura.

The arrival of the owner of a large Iranian travel agency was agreed at the meeting, which was closed for the public. If an agreement is realized, Iranian tourists would come to the Melenci spa through this agency.

– This is a great opportunity for our spa, but not just for it, but also for the state of Serbia. The visit follows the signing of the agreement on cooperation between the two states. At the meetings at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, we also established contacts with Iranian representatives who are very interested in sending their fellow citizens to stay in Rusanda and be treated there. There's also a possibility of certain investments – stated the director of the institution, Zorica Culibrk.

She said that the famous Melenci spa offered peloid, a medicinal mud unique in the world, as well as trained medical staff and its capacities, which, if all goes according to plan, will soon expand.

– We offer 306 beds at the moment. We have completed the renovation of the so-called mud unit, and we have also applied for the adaptation of the rehabilitation pool. We are also actively applying for contests, we have projects for the construction of an inhalation park, the procurement of equipment, the renovation of pools... We are also planning to renovate the fifth pavilion and to raise a new facility for the guests to stay in – Culibrk pointed out.

Santovac noted that the it was in Zrenjanin's interest for Banja Rusanda to offer much more than it does at the moment.

– The spa is very important to a large number of our citizens, but also those coming from abroad. In addition to investments from the town's budget in the past year, we started amending the spatial regulation plan of the spa this year at the session of the Town Assembly in order to enable the construction of new facilities, especially hotel accommodation, but also the reconstruction of the existing ones – Santovac reminded.

Said Hosseini emphasized that he was very glad to see what he called the paradise of Rusanda.

– Serbia is a very beautiful country, with great potentials, which should be used to attract tourists. Last year, around 7,000 tourists came from Iran, and this year they started arriving as soon as January – Hosseini said.
