Đelić asked 300m USD from World Bank
The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, said
that he had asked the World Bank to grant additional 300m USD to support construction
of Corridor 10 and development of education and science.
- People from the World Bank told us to finish realization of the existing
projects, especially those concerning Corridor 10, until the next meeting in
Washington (April 2009), and then to ask for additional resources - Đelić explained
after the talks with the Executive Manager of the World Bank, Ngozi Okonjo
Iveala, with whom he met at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
According to his words, two thirds of the funds will be spent on
infrastructure, while one third will be used for development of education and
science.
- Serbia is on excellent terms with the World Bank and its support to our projects will be increased in the following months – Đelić concluded.
The Executive Manager of the World Bank, Ngozi Okonjo Iveala, said that she was satisfied with the fact that Serbia worked on Corridor 10, and she announced that the World Bank would support that project.
