United Media, whose majority owner is the investment company KKR, has obtained the authorization from the Commission for Protection of Competition of Serbia for the purchase of Srpska Naucna Televizija (SNTV).

SNTV is the first non-profit civil society TV station in Serbia, founded in 2012 as a project of the association Knowledge Committee of Serbia (Komitet Znanja Srbije – KoznaS).

United Media, headquartered in Luxembourg, intends to buy SNTV through a company it will establish in Serbia, in which it will have a 75% stake, whereas the remaining 25% stake will be owned by Stanislava Katic.

Following the transaction, as announced on the website of the Commission for Protection of Competition, KoznaS will stop broadcasting the SNTV program, and the newly established company will launch a new channel, which will broadcast program in the fields of education, science, culture and art.

In Serbia, KKR owns the cable operator SBB and TV N1 through United Media.
