Citizens with debts in Swiss francs, who protested yesterday in front of the Government, are terminating the strike, as they have managed to reach an agreement with representatives of the Supreme Court of Cassation on an urgent solution to all their procedures ongoing at that court. They have been promised, as they say for N1, that their cases will be solved by October 1.

– We have agreed for all the procedures to be solved as soon as possible and for all the procedures ongoing at the SCC regarding the credits in Swiss francs to be solved by October 1 – said lawyer Jelena Pavlovic.

She thanked the SCC for understanding their only request – to have the cases resolved within a reasonable timeframe.

Pavlovic said that they had been assured that the procedures would be finished by October 1 and that a memo regarding this would be sent to all courts the next day.

The request for accelerating these procedures has been fulfilled, she added.

The strike will not continue, and Nemanjina Street was unblocked yesterday.

The gathered citizens said earlier yesterday that their constitutional rights had been violated since 2011, N1 reports.

As Beta reports, the governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Jorgovanka Tabakovic, stated yesterday that the NBS had sent a recommendation to banks several years before to have the repayment of credits in Swiss francs facilitated for citizens.

She reminded at the parliament that the NBS had adopted two recommendations for banks in May 2013, one of which pertained to the one-sided increase of interest rates, whereas the other one pertained to the ways of facilitating the repayment of credits in Swiss francs, Beta reports.
