“Elektroprivreda Srbije” (EPS) has announced today (January, 21st, 2009) prequalifying tenders for election of strategic partner in construction of Thermal power plant “Kolubara B” and the new block in TE “Nikola Tesla B”.

In separate tenders, the investors were invited to submit to EPS letters of interest by March, 20th, for construction of two blocks of 350 mega vats power in TE “Kolubara” and the new block of 700 mega vat in TE “Nikola Tesla B”.

Qualification procedure should be ended in the first half of this year, after which all qualified companies will receive tender documentation for submitting offers for partnership with “Elektroprivreda Srbije”.

Serbian Minister of energy, Petar Skundric, stated last week that the total value of investments in construction of new capacities for production of electrical energy is about 2 billion euros.

According to his words, the best offer should be selected by the end of 2009, and entire project should be finished in 4 to 5 years time.

- 3.000 people would be directely involved in realization of this project, and in machine construction nearly 10.000 workmen, said Petar Skundric, Minister of energy.

Director of the Directorate for strategy and investments in EPS, Dragomir Markovic said on Friday (January, 16th, 2009) that EPS’s share in new objects could not be less than 20%, and it could be 40% maximum, but the final exact amount would depend on the partner and conditions he offered.

Vladimir Djordjevic, EPS Director said that so far 16 world companies showed interest in participating on this tender.

Construction of TE “Kolubara B” started in 1988, and three years later was stoped. So far, 300 million euros has been invested in this project.
