Serbia visited by 867,453 tourists from January till April – Foreign guests comprise nearly a half

In the period from January till April 2018, Serbia was visited by a total of 867,453 tourists, 10% more than in the same period in 2017.

Of these, there were 475,464 local tourists (9% more), or 55% of the total number of guests, and 391,989 foreign tourists (11% more), that is, 45% of the total number of guests.

The data do not include those for the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, the Tourism Agency of Serbia announced.

In the January-April 2018 period, there were a total of 2,441,486 overnight stays, which is 11% more than in the January-April 2017 period. Local tourists realized 1,541,518 overnight stays, whereas foreign ones realized 899,968 overnight stays.

Taking into account the number of realized overnight stays, local guests mostly stayed at mountain resorts (46%) and spas (27%). Foreign guests mostly stayed in Belgrade (52%) and at mountain resorts (16%).


The biggest number of overnight stays in the January-April 2018 period was realized by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina (63,781 overnight stays, which is 5% more than in the corresponding period of 2017), followed by tourists from Montenegro, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Macedonia...
