Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and the chairman of Dubai Port World, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on projects of development of river ports between the Government of Serbia and the UAE-based company yesterday.

As reported on the website of the Government of Serbia, Mihajlovic announced that, after 40 years, the state would start investing in the construction of river ports and that the investments were worth more than EUR 200 million.

She emphasized that the company from the United Arab Emirates might start building a new port in Serbia the next year and that the feasibility study would show whether the investment is to be made in Novi Sad, Smederevo or Belgrade.

Dubai Port World runs 78 port and continental terminals in 40 states on six continents, and its last year's revenues exceed EUR 4 billion.
