Microsoft is to make another purchase, and this time it's the Californian startup Semantic Machines.

The company specializes in the field of artificial intelligence, more precisely, life-like chatbots, whose answers resemble those expected from human beings.

In a post on the official Microsoft blog, David Ku, CVP and chief technology officer of Microsoft AI & Research, notes that Semantic Machines will enable the development of natural conversation between virtual assistants and users, primarily pertaining to improving Cortana.

Semantic Machines was formed by prominent experts in the field of conversational AI in 2014. The company is oriented towards enterprise customers.
