The Trade Union at the Magneti Marelli plant, which produces bumpers for Fiat 500l in Kragujevac and which has been operating under Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) since May 1, has completed negotiations with the management of Fiat without an agreement on a new collective contract.

In the upcoming period, the rights, obligations and responsibilities of employees at Magneti Marelli will be regulated by the rulebook to be adopted by the management of FCA Serbia. This rulebook will remain in effect until a new collective contract is adopted.

The agreement on a new collective contract was not reached as the Trade Union at Magneti Marelli had refused the request of the management of FCA Serbia for them to sign the annex to the document whereby the employees would waive the right to organize a strike in the next three years.

The Trade Union says that the management of FCA Serbia has obliged to comply with the agreement that the union organization and the management of Magneti Marelli had signed in March 2018, according to which the employees at the factory should have the same wage average and meal and vacation allowances equal to those at Fiat, where their colleagues earn an average of around RSD 42,500 a month.

– On the other hand, the Trade Union promised to withhold from organizing strikes as long as the management complies with the March agreement, that is, as long as our salaries and other appurtenances are being harmonized with the salaries and compensations received by the employees of FCA Serbia – the president of the Trade Union at Magneti Marelli, Aleksandar Korac, told Danas.

He added that, in the upcoming period, it remained for the status of the workers hired through agencies to be regulated in the negotiations with the management of FCA Serbia.
