Nis Airport services 115,000 passengers in first four months of 2018

In the first four months of 2018, 115,161 passengers used the services of the Nis Constantine the Great Airport, around 20,000 more than in the same period in 2017, stated the PR of this public enterprise, Ivanka Stanisavljevic.

– In the first quarter of the last year, nearly 95,000 passengers used the services of the Nis Airport, and the number of passengers in the entire 2017 amounted to 331,582, a record number since the foundation in 1986 – Stanisavljevic told Beta.

She reminded that the Nis Airport has connections to 11 European cities and that Wizz Air would launch the Vienna service on November 15.

Official statistics show that the number of passenger that used the airport's services in 2017 was larger by 167.8% compared to 2016, earning the airport the second place in Europe in the number of passengers in the category of airports with up to five million passengers a year.

The City Council of Nis reached the decision on March 30 for the property and the managing rights of the Nis Airport to be transferred from the city's ownership to the ownership of the state, causing massive protests by the citizens of Nis. The final decision on the airport's fate will be reached by the members of the City Assembly of Nis, but the new session has not been scheduled since the postponement of the previous one, which was scheduled for April 10.
