Serbian Minister of Environmental Protection Goran Trivan talked with Ambassador of Portugal to Serbia Augusto Jose Pestana Saraiva and General manager of EFACEC, Fernando Ferreira, on Friday, April 27, 2018, as reported on the website of the Government of Serbia.

Trivan expressed gratitude for the interest and the cooperation up till then and pointed to the importance of the strengthening of the relations and the future cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection.

He said that the experience and the practice of Portugal, which is close to Serbia in size and the number of residents, were important for Serbia in addressing the main challenges in the sector of environmental protection.

The minister said that, in order for the country to reach the European standards in this field, it was important to have projects of local self-governments for waste processing, waste water treatment and improvement of air quality supported through public-private partnerships.

As he announced, Serbia needs facilities for treatment of all types of waste. He noted that the ministry was decisive in its position that only those technologies that meet the highest environmental standards can be imported.

Ambassador of Portugal pointed out that Portugal and Serbia had friendly relations and that Portugal wanted to help Serbia in this field due to the importance of environmental protection in the process of European integration.

The guests are interested in sharing the knowledge and the experience of Portugal in the field of environmental protection. They pointed out that they wanted to provide help through investing in projects, especially those related to waste and waste waters, in which EFACEC would be involved, it is said.

This company has been operating for over 70 years in more than 65 countries in the field of engines, generators, transformers and electrical equipment, and it places special focus on management in the field of environmental protection, where it invests in waste and waste water treatment projects.
