Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated yesterday that he hoped that the Arab airline Etihad would not leave Air Serbia.

– I’d like for Etihad never to leave Air Serbia and I hope it won’t – Vucic said and added that, if Etihad decided to leave, Air Serbia would survive and become stronger than Jat.

He said that it was inappropriate to compare it to Jat from its final years and added that Air Serbia was a far better airline, as shown by the far better results.

– You can’t earn from the New York air service, but it is important for the country’s brand and for the airline’s brand – Vucic said.

When asked about Serbia’s budget, Vucic said that the situation was good and that there was still a surplus.

– The first quarter was problematic. We will have a surplus by the end of the year, and that’s not counting the EUR 501 million which will be paid in October for the concession of the airport – Vucic said.
