Ministry of Justice and Statistical Office sign protocol on electronic data sharing
Kuburovic pointed out that this protocol would only serve as the starting point for a further exchange of data between the judicial organs and the Statistical Office and added that the Ministry continued to develop its judicial information system and that the signing of protocols with other organs, primarily the National Bank, was expected as well.
She said that this was one in a range of protocols the Ministry of Justice had signed in the previous months, all to the end of developing the judicial information system (JIS), which is in line with the policy of the Government of Serbia, which includes the development of eGovernment.
Most of those protocols, she noted, was in the interest of judicial organs, as it helps them get data necessary for running and shortening court procedures more quickly, whereas, with the new protocol, the Ministry is trying to help another institution, enabling it to get more quality data in a much shorter period of time, in order to avoid the submission of tens of thousands of hand-filled forms.
Kovacevic pointed out that electronic data sharing between judicial and state organs had put a stop to the practice of collecting data through paper questionnaires.
He added that electronic data sharing would contribute to a reduction of budget costs and court workload, as well as to an increase in the quality of statistical data in the judicial sector, it is said.
