IMF keeps projection of Serbia's 2018 GDP growth at 3.5%
In the revised “Global Economic Outlook” report, published on the official IMF website on April 17 on the occasion of the spring session of the Fund and the World Bank in Washington, it is estimated that the inflation in Serbia will amount to 2.7% this year and 3% in 2019.
It is also projected that the current account balance deficit will drop in 2018 to 4.5% from last year's 4.6%, and the IMF expects it to further drop to 4.1% of the GDP in 2019.
The IMF projects an unemployment rate of 14.3% in Serbia in 2018 and 14% next year.
The Fund has also kept the projection of the growth of global economy for this and next year at 3.9%, the quickest growth since 2011.
The revised report also says that global trade will grow by 5.1% this year, the quickest growth rate in the past seven years.
The projection of the economic growth of the Eurozone in 2018 has been revised up to 2.4% from 2.2% projected three months ago, whereas the Chinese economy will grow at the rate of 6.6% this year, down from 6.9% in 2017.
